Emmanuel Emenike is planning to dump
Turkish club Fenerbache with his sights set on a move to England in the
summer, it has been learned.
Already, the 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham in the summer.
According to reports, Chelsea are highly
interested in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner and
could step up
their interest in the coming months.
Express.co.uk reported that the
former Russia-based forward was believed to have visited London during
the week after not being considered for Nigeria’s international
friendlies against Uganda and South Africa.
The Super Eagles striker is said to be
unhappy with the racial abuse he received from Fenerbahce fans in a
recent game against Besiktas and has decided to move elsewhere.
Emenike demanded to be substituted after coming in for abuse from his own supporters in the encounter.
“Emenike is not happy with what he is
going through with the Fenerbahce fans. He is preparing his mind to be
fit for a possible summer move,” AfricanFootball.com quoted the player’s confidant as saying during the week.
“He has lots of options which include teams from Italy, but England looks like his next destination.”
The South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of
Nations Golden Boot winner, who is in his second spell at the club, has
only scored four goals in 22 league appearances this season for the
title contenders.
He joined the Turkish giants in 2011 but
was linked to a match-fixing scandal, though he was later cleared of
any involvement, joining Spartak before playing a game for the Istanbul
club.
The striker rejoined the club in 2013.
Meanwhile, West Brom striker Brown Ideye
has urged the England FA boss to reconsider his decision to amend the
rules that govern the number of non-EU players in each of the Premier
League teams.
The Nigeria international is of the
opinion that the Premier League must maintain a healthy balance between
home-grown players and foreign stars as the league is the toast of many
players outside the UK.
Speaking at a Kick It Out workshop at
Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury, Ideye said, “I feel bad about it
because there are a lot of talented players outside the UK who want to
come to the Premier League to play football
“The Premier League is where people want to play and want to be so it’s a bit sad that things like this come up.
“But I guess they know what is good and they are doing the right thing for them.
“I think making the team is what is important and here you get foreigners and English players mixed together to get good teams.
“That is good and I think it should be 50-50.”
England FA boss, Greg Dyke wants tighter restrictions to ensure more English youngsters get their chance in the top flight.
