Airtel rolls out high-speed Wi-Fi service

Airtel Nigeria has introduced ultra-high speed Wi-Fi service to enhance customer data experience in Lagos.
The telecoms company said the introduction of the ultra-high speed Wi-Fi was in line with its commitment to providing exceptional mobile Internet experience for Nigerians.

It said that with the development, residents and visitors to Lagos would have access to super-fast Internet in public places and be able to connect wirelessly to the Internet through their smartphones, tablets, laptops and other smart devices.
The service is available to all mobile phone users irrespective of their network and as part of the incentives, Airtel offers free 15 minutes per month to every user.
Already, Wi-Fi hotspots have been deployed to Ozone Cinema, Yaba; Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island; and Alausa Shopping Mall, Ikeja.
Speaking about the initiative, the Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Mr. Maurice Newa, described the service as a milestone in the company’s effort to strengthen its relationship with customers.
He said, “This service is designed to delight our customers with ultra-high speed Internet service. We want to connect with them in smarter and rewarding ways, to fulfil their communication needs.”
He pointed out that as an innovative company, Airtel would continue to redefine the telecoms landscape with revolutionary products and services that would provide rewarding experience to its customers.
“Our mission is to enrich the lives of Nigerians through the provision of exceptional experience and the introduction of this service is an attestation to our commitment”, he said.
He noted that at full implementation, the service would be rolled out in malls, airports, universities and other areas of public interest in other major cities in the country.
“To enjoy this service, customers will need to purchase data bundles which are categorised into five time-based bundles; 30mins, one hour, two hours, three hours and five hours,” he said.
