Finally, NNPC pledges to end fuel queues by weekend

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has vowed to meet the June 13 deadline earlier set to end fuel queues across the country.
The Group Managing Director of NNPC, Dr Joseph Dawha, told journalists during inspection of some of its stations in Abuja that there is a stock level of 1.1 billion litres representing 27 days sufficiency, saying there should be no cause for alarm.

Lagos signs Ikeja, Ikoyi, Apapa model city plans

The Lagos State Government has signed three model city plans to guide physical development of different areas of the metropolis in the next 10 years.

Buhari’s asset declaration

President Muhammadu Buhari and his deputy, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, have both done well by declaring their assets as required by law. What Buhari and Osinbajo did, however, only satisfied the minimum requirement. This is not a minimum requirement government; we did not clamour for the minimum. The General and Prof made a promise of publicly declaring their assets; as far as I am concerned, they have not fully done so, and it is not too late.

I won’t enter Govt House until September says Wike

The RIVERS State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, said on Sunday that he would stay away from the Government House in Port Harcourt for the next three months as a result of the vandalisation of the property in the place by the immediate past administration.

Wike, who spoke at the post-inauguration thanksgiving service in Port Harcourt, disclosed that all the vehicles in the Government House had been taken away.

Smoking in public spaces banned in Beijing

Tough anti-smoking measures have gone into effect in the Chinese capital, where smoking is now banned in restaurants, offices and on public transport.

Under the law rolled out on Monday, anyone in Beijing who violates the bans, which include smoking near schools and hospitals, must pay $32.25. The current fine, seldom enforced, is just $1.60.

South Africa admits $10m FIFA payout
