FG permits SON to jail substandard product dealers for 10yrs without the option of a fine

The Federal Government has given authorization to Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to imprison dealers who sell substandard products. They said SON has the authorization to jail defectors for ten years. SON has since started with Tyre dealers. They have given a 24 hours ultimatum to tyre dealers all over the country to destroy every fake tyre in their stock or face 10 years imprisonment without any option of a fine.

Students puts together a touching yearbook-style coffin for a classmate who passed away before graduation

A high school senior who passed away before receiving her yearbook received a heartfelt memorial from her classmates.
Laura Hillier, an 18-year-old from Burlington, Canada, had been battling acute myeloid leukemia for years when she died on Jan. 20. Although she never had the opportunity to graduate high school or receive her yearbook, her classmates came together to provide a touching yearbook-style tribute.

FG pleads with major oil companies in Nigeria as they plan mass sack following dwindling oil price

Major oil companies in Nigeria have said they are planning a mass sack following the dwindling price of oil in the International market. At a meeting between the Minister of Labor and Productivity, Chris Ngige and the managements of International Oil Compananies (IOCs) in Nigeria comprising of Agip, Mobil producing, Chevron Addax and Total, the Head of Human Resources and Medical, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Ihuoma Onyearughe, said the plan to lay off some workers in the sector is as a result of the current challenges facing the industry.

26-year-old Nigerian emerges the youngest PHD Law graduate of the Centre of Human Rights, University of Pretoria

The Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria on February 3, 2016, introduced its youngest doctorate graduate, Dr. Romola Adeola. According to the Institute, at just 26 years of age, Romola has set a record in being the youngest person to obtain a Doctor of Laws degree (LLD) in the 30-year history of the Centre for Human Rights.

BVN exposes 23,306 ‘ghost workers’ on Fed Govt payroll

The Bank Verification Number Exercise has exposed no fewer than 23,306 ghost workers within the Federal Government’s payroll. The Federal Ministry of Finance made the discovery with the adoption of the BVN for salary payment recently.
